Scenes of a Working Village

turfcuttersThis Traditional country pub prides itself on its wide selection of drinks, extensive menu and B&B accommodation. We are also privileged to have a unique display of historic photographs and documents dating back to the 1800’s all of which were used to accompany a story in the heritage magazine “Vintage spirit”.

This story of the traction engines, threshing machines and other business activities of one East Boldre family, attracted blanket sales in the New Forest when published in 4 monthly parts in late 2011 to early 2012.

Our display is a must for traction engine enthusiasts with detailed history of most of the engines of one family that travelled the road of this village in years gone by.

To view our display in a relaxed atmosphere why not visit us in the afternoons perhaps as a casual visit or as a group. We are also an ideal venue for informal meetings. After viewing our display why not enjoy an old fashioned ploughman’s lunch with a glass of cider and relive the meal breaks of the men and women of a time gone by. We also have a selection of baguettes and jacket potatoes available too.

For groups of 6 or more requiring lunches in the afternoon a telephone call prior to your visit would be appreciated.

If your visit is not to your expectations please tell us, or if you enjoy your visit, please tell your friends!
